The Boone State athletic programs have been down recently, but hope springs eternal. Today, Orson Swindle issued his latest Fulmer Cup rankings and the Pokes are #1. A big thank you to Brandon Pettigrew, who announced last week he was returning for his senior year. ALLEGEDLY, Mr. Pettigrew started preparation for spring ball a bit early, was practicing his blocking technique on one of Stillwater's finest. The old school, elbow out blocking technique led to a felony charge of assault and battery on a police officer, which is a cherry on the top of the public intoxication charge that started things.
This is a good sign for the program. Clearly, the Pokes are starting to be more aggressive and this will surely lead to a good 2008. Coach Gundy was unavailable for comment, but sources inside the program indicate Coach Gundy said, "It's not a big deal, it's only a police officer. It's not like it's an underage girl or anything."
